Annual General Meeting (AGM)

We hold AGMs annually as any other official body or association as we involve public and

  • elect new Executive Members;
  • involve the public and encourage new membership;
  • are open and transparent and share accounts on income and expenditure for the year;
  • give a verbal account of events held and successes obtained.

International Womens Day

International Womens Day is held in March

  • to remember women's achievements throughout history and across nations;
  • recognise young women's achievements;
  • use this platform to raise relevant and pertinent issues in the Sikh & Asian societies;
  • invite women who have broken through the glass ceiling, local councillors, successful business etc to inspire others and give public recognition.

Teeyan and Jago

SWA started this event, a women's dance festival originating from the Punjab region to;

  • promote culture
  • rejuvenate traditional songs and traditional Ghidda
  • encourage women to enjoy and relax in a women's only event

Bi-Annual Conference

on topics of relevance to the women aired at workshops, other events and topics current in media.
